Dallas Stars goal scoring sensation Jamie Benn was targeted with a cheap shot tonight from St. Louis Blues forward Robert Bortuzzo. Late in the first period with the score tied at 0 Dallas Stars grinder Jordie Benn rushed into the zone and was clipped with a (what looked to be) inadvertent high-stick. The officials called it a minor penalty for interference on Blues player Scottie Upshall. As the play was whistled dead, Blues Bortuzzo looked to have clearly went after the head of superstar Jamie Benn. It was called a minor penalty for slashing.
After watching the play numerous times it clearly looks as though Bortuzzo butt-ended Benn in the chest/neck area. It will be interesting to see how the NHL handles this one. The infraction took place after the whistle, and looks like a vicious butt-end.
