The San Jose Sharks have really had a hard time keeping up with the speed of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Wednesday nights Game 2 was another game in which the Penguins dominated the Sharks. Period one was a scoreless period that saw the Penguins outshoot the Sharks 11-6.

Pittsburgh’s Phil Kessel broke the scoreless drought at the 8:20 mark of the second period. His 10th goal of the playoffs was a tip into an open net. The Penguins controlled the second period also. They doubled up the Sharks by outshooting them 12-5.

The Sharks made a push in the third period. At points they controlled the play and ended up outshooting the Penguins 9-6. With just 4 minutes and 5 seconds remaining in the third San Jose tied up the game. Defenseman Justin Braun scored his first of the playoffs on a shot from the point that looked to deflect of Pittsburgh’s Bonino.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Conor Sheary scored at 2:35 of overtime to lift the Penguins to a 2-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup Final. A face-off win by captain Sidney Crosby set up a by rookie Sheary from the slot that beat Sharks goalie Martin Jones over the glove hand. Sheary, an undrafted free agent who signed with the Penguins in July, became the fifth rookie to record an overtime goal in the Stanley Cup Final – and the first do so in 30 years.
