NJCAA player storms onto ice to check referee, ending national championship game. Erie Community College freshman Brandon Day stormed out of the penalty box onto the ice and leveled the referee.
The Erie Community College Kats were attempting to win a NJCAA National Title Sunday when they took on Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjacks. The Championship game did not go as expected. What happened was the most violent hockey act toward an official that I have ever seen.
Brandon Day exited the penalty box and attacked the referee with a vicious hit. This horrendous attack ended the 7-4 3rd period game and the National Championship was awarded to Dakota College at Bottineau (North Dakota). This is the Lumberjacks 10th National Title.
