Nazim Kadri and the Toronto Maple Leafs inked a two-year contract at a reported $5.8 million dollars. This contract was signed Tuesday evening, the eve of training camps opening. Kadri had said that he would hold out of training camp to achieve the deal that he was looking for. It looks like cooler head prefailed and a common sense contract agreement was reached.
This contract seems to be good for both sides. Kadri has a lot to prove still as a budding NHL superstar. In 48 games with the Leafs last season, Kadri registered 18 goals and 26 asssits for 44 points. He ranked second on the team in goals, powerplay goals, assists, points, plus/minus (+15) and third in shots. Entering his fourth professional season, he has accumulated 26 goals and 37 assists for 63 points in 99 career regular season games with Toronto. Now Kadri must prove to the Leafs that he is worthy of a long term, high end contract he may receive in two years. The benefit to Kadri signing this deal is the fact that now he can prove his worth. Its now time to prove that he is worth the big dollar, long term contract that he was reportedly seeking.
