Hockey is Right with this World!
Home from a long road trip.. And long weekend.. My family safe, I struggle to sleep in the early morning hours’, thinking of what is going on in this world, and this country.. And I keep thinking, hockey.. Hockey is right with this world.. A band of brothers, a family, battling, blood sweat and tears, pain, frustration and jubilation, shared. Respect for a worthy opponent, a tap of the stick for an injured player. In a world of cry babies and easily offended people that find mindless violence the answer.. Especially in the name of religion, there is beauty in the chaos of the game, even the violence and speed of the game. I love this shit.. And I love the boys that play it and give their heart and soul. The effort and determination is what once made this country great. In a world of handouts, subsidies and easy rides, Hockey has none of that, earn your keep. Sure other sports could be the same.. But I don’t think many are.. Though I am a bit biased. This may be construed as racist, and it isn’t intended to be.. But, in the words of Derek Sutton, (Patrick Swayze) 1984 Youngblood- “thank God there is a sport left for middle sized white boys” here’s to you, Aberdeen Wings, Aberdeen Cougars and all you beauty’s that play the game and lay it out there night in and night out.

I am a former player that had to quit, due to an injury unrelated to hockey. I have coached for 6 years at different levels, largely developmental levels. I am the voice of the Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League/Junior A. I am a true road warrior, traveling with the team to different barns all around the upper Midwest. When I am able, I watch my son play for the Aberdeen Cougars – Squirts level- a team that I also help coach. My hockey loving wife, sends me videos of his games when I am on the road with the Wings. I have announced/written for and about dirt track/stock car races and horse races as well. Passionate about the sport of hockey and the lifestyle as a whole.
