Fighting is a part of hockey. Always has, and hopefully always will. Unfortunately the non-hockey media uses fighting to drag the sport through the mud. Fighting is part of the game, and should be part of the game. Let’s face it, the politically correct society that we live in now frowns upon fighting. The non-hockey media has used fighting for years to degrade the game, and tear it down. They never seem to tell the good stories about hockey. Do they do this to be politically correct, or do they do this because society does not like fighting in hockey? Well let me tell you this, society has much bigger problems to deal with than fighting in hockey. I just don’t understand why people outside of hockey say they hate fighting so bad. Have they not looked at the way society is now. Violence sells! It is sad, but it is true.

The fastest growing sport in North America is UFC fighting. Whilst you have always been able to bet on hockey on 토토사이트 and other sports betting sites, UFC was nowhere to be seen on them a few years ago. Now it is possible to bet on and watch these fights on websites like those. UFC? That is the definition of violence. Also, Look at the television shows that are on now. Twenty years ago most of these shows would not have been able to air because of there violence. Let’s face it people, violence sells. It’s crazy, and not right, but it is the cold hard truth. I have yet to be at a hockey game when a fight broke out, that had fans running for the door or covering their eyes. In fact they all stand up and cheer. Although many will disagree with me, but I believe some fans go to hockey games hoping that there will be a fight. Now the true hockey fans do not feel this way, including me. I enjoy watching the speed, hits, scoring chances, goals, big saves, and I do like the odd fight.

Hockey has different types of fights, This is where it gets confusing. There is nothing better than a tough battle in front of the net that escalates in to a hard fought fight between to willing combatants. This type of fight sends fans into a frenzy, and epitomizes the energy and intensity of the game of hockey. The part of fighting that upsets me is the staged fight. Hockey will always have, and should have a guy on the roster that can take care of business. With the salary cap in place now, this player must now also be able to contribute on a normal shift. Teams just can’t afford to have a guy on the roster that his sole job is to fight. The thought that players go into a game knowing that they are going to fight another guy is crazy. It frustrates me to know end to see guys line up and drop the gloves as soon as the puck is dropped. These are the fights that often result in player injuries.

The National Hockey League should take a look at issuing game misconducts for staged fights, and issue five-minute fighting majors for the standard heat of the moment fight. Fighting is part of the game, and it should be part of the game. We live in a world now in which we say one thing, but really mean or want another. People love violence, and there is not one person that turns the television channel when a hockey fight starts. The National Hockey League must take actions to curb staged fighting. This will quiet the critics, and show that they are doing something to limit the amount of fights. On the other hand the National Hockey League should do everything they can to maintain or increase the intensity level of games. The odd heat of the moment fight should be encouraged and used to market the intensity of hockey. Hockey is a physical, hard hitting sport, and that is what people love about it. It’s okay to admit why we like this sport. Lets face it people love intense games, fights, and drama. Why do you think UFC and television reality shows are so popular. It is time stop dragging the sport through the mud because of fighting. It is an exciting part of the game. Do you turn the television off, or leave the arena when a fight starts?
