Patrick Eaves started the season with the Dallas Stars. The expectations and hopes were high for both Eaves and the Stars. Things did not go as planned for the Stars. Injuries and poor production from their star players sent the team into a tailspin. In the 54 games Eaves played with the Stars prior to deadline day he posted 21 goals and 37 points. A great start for a player on a struggling team. A great deal of his playing time was on the bottom-six forwards for the Stars, and only seeing limited time on the power play. Pretty impressive numbers.

On February 24th, the Dallas Stars trade F Patrick Eaves to Anaheim Ducks for conditional second-round pick in 2017 Draft. A move that seemed a little insignificant, but ended up being anything but insignificant. Eaves has now hit the 30-goal mark for the first time in his career. Pretty impressive for a 32-year-old veteran who had not eclipsed the 15-goal plateau since the 2005-06 campaign. His timely scoring since arriving in Anaheim has really payed dividends for the Ducks.
Eaves has found a way to fit in with his line mates since coming to Anaheim. He is currently playing on a line with, Nick Ritchie, and Ryan Getzlaf. He has also seen steady power play time with the first unit (Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler and Eaves). His versatility has paid dividends for both Eaves and the Ducks. The pending free-agent now looks to lead the mighty Anaheim Ducks deep into the playoffs.
