
Sidney Crosby, who registered two assists in Game 6 and finished the postseason with 6 goals,13 assists for a total of 19 points, won the Conn Smythe Trophy. The prestigious trophy awarded to βthe most valuable player to his team in the playoffs.β The winner was selected in a vote by a panel of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
Crosby became the 10th player in NHL history, and third Pittsburgh Penguins player to win both the Hart Memorial Trophy and Conn Smythe Trophy.
Final voting results were not officially published, but based on information reported by TSN the voting was very close. A 5-3-1 points system was used β five points for a first place vote, three for a second and one for a third. Crosby had nine first place votes and Phil Kessel has seven. Crosby had five second place votes and Kessel had eight. Final point results Crosby had 63 and Phil Kessel was a close 60 points.
