The Tampa Bay Lightning did not sit back on there heals when they went into the third period with a lead in Game 2. The result was a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida The Lightning win evened the Stanley Cup Final at one game apiece.

The Lighting opened the scoring at the 12:56 mark of the first period when Cedric Paquette scored on a screened shot from the slot. Ryan Callahan and Victor Hedman were credited with assists on the first goal. Tampa Bay took a one-goal lead into the first intermission.

The Blackhawks charged back in the second period by scoring two goals in the first five minutes. Andrew Shaw scored his fifth goal of the playoffs at the 3:04 mark, and rookie Teuvo Teravainen followed that goal with a power-play marker at the 5:02 mark of the second period. The Blackhawks lead did not last long, just 1:32 the Lightning fired back with a goal. Nikita Kucherov tipped in a shot from Jason Garrison to even the game back up at 2-2. The flashy, little man Tyler Johnson gave the Lightning the lead at the 13:58 mark when he squeezed a terrible angle shot past Chicago goaltender Corey Crawford. After two periods the Lightning lead 3-2. The same one goal lead that they squandered in the third period of Game 1.

The Blackhawks made things very interesting again when defenseman Brent Seabrook scored his seventh goal of the playoffs at the 3:38 mar of the third period. Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop was irate after the goal complaining that he was interfered with on the play. The officials discussed it briefly, but the goal counted. The game was tied at 3-3. The Lightning took the lead again at the midway point of the third period when defenseman Jason Garrison scored a power play goal. The clutch goal came with Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Sharp in the penalty box for high-sticking.

Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop left the game twice in the third period for unknown reasons. He left briefly and returned, then left for good at the 7:41 mark. Back-up goaltender Andrei Visilevskiy came into the game, and made some very big saves in the eventual win for him. This was the first Stanley Cup Playoff victory of his career. Steven Stamkos summed up many peoples thoughts on the situation by saying, “No one really knew what was going on. We were kind of listening to the announcements of who was in net for our team a couple times.”

The Stanley Cup Final best-of-7 series will continue tied 1-1 on Monday night. Game time is set for 8:00 pm EST. The United Center in Chicago will be the venue, and the game can be seen on NBC, CBC, and TVA Sports.
