When people talk about the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup, names such a Toews, Kane and Crawford come up quickly as key players. Well unlikely heroes such as Teuvo Teravainen and Antoine Vermette were names that did not enter the conversation. Well those were the names mentioned when describing how the Blackhawks stole Game 1 from the Tampa Bay Lightning. The two unlikely heroes scored less than two minutes apart late in the third period to help the Blackhawks come from behind, and defeat the Lightning in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The Lightning were first on the board when Alex Killorn scored his eighth goal of the playoffs with assists from Anton Stralman, and Valtteri Filppula. The opening period was quiet on the scoreboard, but shots were Tampa Bay 10 and Chicago 7.

The second period was much like the first, tight checking and low scoring. No goals were scored in the second but shots were 8-6 in favor of Tampa Bay.
The Blackhawks finally broke free in the third period when Teuvo Teravainen scored with assists from Duncan Keith and Andrew Shaw. This clutch goal tied the game at 1-1. Under two minutes later the Blackhawks continued the momentum turn when Antoine Vermette fired a wrist show past Lightning goalie Ben Bishop.

Controversy did erupt when speculation that Andrew Shaw bit Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman on the chest during a scrum behind the net. Hedman broke free from the scrum, and went directly to the bench to be examined by trainers. The NHL has issued a response that they are looking into this incident, and NHL Player Safety has begun an investigation.
