The dislike has always been strong between the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames for years now. It actually is a bigger rivalry than the Calgary Flames versus Edmonton Oilers “Battle of Alberta”. Well, game two of the Western Conference First Round ignited into a vicious battle. The Canucks eventually prevailed, and tied the series at 1-1 with a 4-1 triumph over the Flames. The big win was slightly overlooked by all the bad blood and fisticuffs.
The game was physical from start to finish, but the physical intensity boiled over at the 18:43 mark of the 3rd period. A complete line brawl erupted that featured multiple fights and craziness. An unofficial total of 132 penalty minutes were issued after the fracas. There is no doubt that this fight will be evaluated, and it is very likely that changes will take place on the official penalty results. Here is a breakdown of the penalties called on the ice.
