Avs Hold Off-Season Top Spot

It is October — the NHL off-season, wait what — well it is 2020.  Colorado holds the top spot in the off-season 2020 power rankings.  The Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning fall to #2 as cap problems and players on the move loom.  Vegas is making a strong push with the Alex Pietrangelo signing.  Toronto makes a huge jump up and this might be the most controversial ranking I have.  Well I like the experience they gain, maybe not so much Joe Thornton, but it will bring accountability.  The defense is improved and I still like Andersson in net.  A strong free-agency and draft move the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames up the board.  As for teams on the down.  Boston heads down due to off-season injuries.  Pittsburgh trends the wrong way due to age and an unproven Tristan Jarry.  Carolina, well this might be the one I am wrong on.  Just don’t trust the goaltending and the non-existent off-season has me wondering.  We will update this again prior to camps opening.
