FLAMES EXTEND WIN STREAK TO EIGHT GAMES
Calgary scored five unanswered goals and Brian Elliott (24 saves) registered his first shutout of the season as the Flames extended their win and point streaks to eight and 10 games (9-0-1), respectively. Calgary registered an eight-game win streak for the first time since posting an equal run from Nov. 1-16, 2005. The Flames currently sit in the first Wildcard postion with 78 points.
At 37-26-4 (78 points), the Flames increased their lead to seven points over the idle Blues (33-27-5, 71 points) for the first Wild Card position in the Western Conference and tied the Oilers (35-23-8, 78 points) – in terms of points – for third place in the Pacific Division. Edmonton, however, holds a game in hand.

Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau (1-3—4) registered his second four-point game of the season, while teammate T.J. Brodie (0-1—1) extended his point streak to five games (2-4—6). Elliott earned his seventh consecutive win and improved to 11-1-1 in his last 13 decisions dating to Jan. 26 (2.00 GAA, .931 SV%, 1 SO).
The next match-up for the Flames and a chance to increase the win streak to nine games comes on Saturday night when the travel to Winnipeg to take on the Jets.
Jarome Iginla (2-0—2) scored his first two goals in a Kings uniform (3 GP) – including the overtime winner – to move Los Angeles (32-28-6, 70 points) within a point of the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference . . . Corey Perry scored the only goal of the contest and Jonathan Bernier turned aside all 43 shots he faced as the Ducks (35-22-10, 80 points) blanked the Blackhawks. Bernier registered his second shutout of the season and earned the 100th win of his NHL career . . . Hurricanes forward Valentin Zykovscored 13:44 into his NHL debut . . . Senators forward Christopher DiDomenico also made his League debut . . . The NHL Centennial Fan Arena will visit Ottawa on March 16, 18 and 19 . . . The Sharks honored forward Joe Thornton in a pre-game ceremony for reaching the 1,000-assist milestone on Monday . . .
