LEAGUE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES NHL.com/100

Microsite to Chronicle League’s Centennial Celebration, Archive Historical Content.

To celebrate 100 years of NHL history, players and moments, the League officially launched a dedicated microsite NHL.com/100 today. The site will chronicle the year-long Centennial celebrations with daily stories, video and images and will showcase historical content from the past 100 years.

As previously announced, the 100 Greatest NHL Players presented by Molson Canadian is a main feature of the Centennial content available on NHL.com/100. Original video vignettes for each player will feature rare footage, as well as interviews with players, their contemporaries, general managers, coaches and other personalities. Earlier today, the first 33 members of the 100 Greatest list were revealed in a special pregame ceremony at the 2017 Scotiabank NHL Centennial Classic™. The group, who played predominantly during the NHL’s first half century (1917-1966), were unveiled in front of 40,148 fans before today’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings. The most memorable photos, new bios and video vignettes of these players are now posted on NHL.com/100.

Daily content celebrating Centennial Memories began to be displayed today and more will be added each day throughout the year-long anniversary celebration. These stories, photos and video will be shared with fans across the League’s social media platforms using the official hashtag #NHL100. Each days fans will get an inside look at special moments in history via never-before-seen video, images, historical documents, and stories.

The NHL Centennial Fan Arena (NHL.com/FanArena) – a traveling tour of hockey thrills that will traverse 50,000 miles in 2017 reaching every NHL market as well as local communities – will engage fans with viewing parties, youth hockey tournaments, player and alumni appearances, as well as feature historical images, videos and memorabilia. Fans can RSVP to learn when the tour will be in their local market at CentennialArena.NHL.com.

The Centennial celebrations throughout the year will include a variety of important content initiatives, ceremonies, recognitions, observances and special events. Details on these events will be announced at later dates.
