Vegas Golden Knights center Jonathan Marchessault, Columbus Blue Jacketsgoaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin have been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending Nov. 26.

 

FIRST STAR – JONATHAN MARCHESSAULT, C, VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Marchessault registered 1-2—3 in each of his three contests, pacing the NHL with six assists and nine points overall (3-6—9) to power the expansion Golden Knights (15-6-1, 31 points) to a perfect week and the top of the Pacific Division standings. He opened the week with his fourth career three-point performance in a 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks Nov. 22. Marchessault then collected his second career overtime goal, as well as two assists, in a 5-4 triumph against the San Jose Sharks Nov. 24. He added his third straight three-point outing, including an assist on the decisive goal, in a 4-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes Nov. 25. The 26-year-old Cap-Rouge, Que., native – who is the only player with three consecutive three-point performances in 2017-18 – ranks second on the Golden Knights with 8-13—21 in 19 games this season.

SECOND STAR – SERGEI BOBROVSKY, G, COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS

Bobrovsky went 3-0-0 with a 1.32 goals-against average, .950 save percentage and one shutout to help theBlue Jackets (15-7-1, 31 points) extend their winning streak to six games overall. He made 30 saves in a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres Nov. 20, earned his 22nd career shutout with 22 stops in a 1-0 overtime win against the Calgary Flames Nov. 22 and turned aside 24 shots in a 5-2 triumph over the Ottawa Senators Nov. 24. The 29-year-old Novokuznetsk, Russia, native – who has been in net for each of Columbus’ six straight victories (0.98 GAA, .966 SV%, 2 SO) – leads the NHL with a 1.91 goals-against average, .936 save percentage and three shutouts (tied) in 19 appearances this season (14-4-1).

 

THIRD STAR – ALEX OVECHKIN, LW, WASHINGTON CAPITALS

Ovechkin paced the NHL with five goals in four games (5-0—5) to guide the Capitals (14-10-1, 29 points) to a trio of wins. After being held off the scoresheet in a 4-1 loss to the Calgary Flames Nov. 20, Ovechkin scored in each of his next three outings. That included one goal in both a 5-2 triumph over the Ottawa Senators Nov. 22 and 3-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning Nov. 24. Ovechkin capped the week with his 20th career hat trick – in front of one of his biggest fans, 13-year-old cancer survivor Alex Luey – in a 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Nov. 25. The 32-year-old Moscow, Russia, native ranks first in the NHL with 18 goals in 25 contests in 2017-18 (18-7—25).
