Just one day after the NHL played an outdoor game in Dodger Stadium, the NHL moves venues to New York and Yankee Stadium.  Sunday, January 26th the New York Rangers will take on the New Jersey Devils.  This will be followed by another outdoor game at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, January 29th that will feature the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders.  The game Sunday will be televised on NBC, and the game on Wednesday will be televised on NBCSN in the United States, and both games will be on CBC in Canada.

The first match-up will feature a classic goaltender battle in the snow.  Weather projections show the possibility of snow and cold temperatures.  A far cry from what the game looked like in Los Angeles.  Martin Brodeur will be in the net for the Devils, and Henrik Lundqvist will mind the net for the Rangers.  The Devils are just two points back of the Rangers in the Metropolitan Division.  A Devils win in regulation will tie them with the Rangers for a playoff spot.  This has all the makings for a classic outdoor battle.

The second match-up takes place on Wednesday night of Super Bowl week in New York.  The Rangers will take to the outdoor ice again to take on long time rival the New York Islanders.  This will be a very important game for the Rangers in picking up points on their quest for a playoff spot.  The Islanders are led by superstar John Tavares, but have struggled this season.  The Islanders are a very streaking team that is looking to take two points from their rival Rangers.  The low scoring Rangers are looking to scrap their way to another win.  The weather will be a factor like any other outdoor game.  This one will be an old-time hockey battle under the outside lights.
