2017 NHL PRESEASON SCHEDULE

The first NHL games played in China, the debut of the Golden Knights and the opening of Little Caesars Arena – the new home of the Red Wings – highlight the 2017 NHL preseason schedule. The 16-day, 109-game slate begins Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Kings and Canucks will face off in the first NHL games ever staged in China as part of the 2017 NHL China Games presented by O.R.G. Packaging. The two-game series will be played Thursday, Sept. 21, at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai (7:30 p.m. local/7:30 a.m. ET, NBCSN, SN, TVAS) and Saturday, Sept. 23 at Wukesong Arena in Beijing (3:30 p.m. local/3:30 a.m. ET, SN, TVAS).

The Golden Knights will take to the ice for their first NHL contest on Saturday, Sept. 17, when they travel to Vancouver to face the Canucks at Rogers Arena. Vegas will make its home debut on Tuesday, Sept. 26, when it plays host to Los Angeles at T-Mobile Arena.

After bidding farewell last season to Joe Louis Arena, their home since 1979-80, the Red Wings will stage four preseason contests at their new downtown venue, Little Caesars Arena. The Red Wings will play host to longtime rivals in the Bruins (Sept. 23), Penguins (Sept. 25), Blackhawks (Sept. 28) and Maple Leafs (Sept. 29).

The people of Belle Vernon, Pa., winners of Kraft Hockeyville USA as the country’s most passionate hockey community, will celebrate the grand prize when the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins and Blues visit their community on Sunday, Sept. 24. Pittsburgh and St. Louis will face off that night at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in nearby Cranberry Township, Pa. (8 p.m. ET, NBCSN).

The following day, the Devils and Senators head to O’Leary, P.E.I., winner of Kraft Hockeyville Canada. The teams will meet that night at nearby Summerside, P.E.I. (7 p.m. AT/6 p.m. ET, SN).

Other non-NHL communities playing host to preseason games are Allentown, Pa. (NYI vs. PHI, Sept. 20); Bridgeport, Conn. (NYI vs. NYR, Sept. 22); Kansas City, Mo. (MIN vs. STL, Sept. 28); Quebec City, Que. (MTL vs. BOS, Sept. 18, and MTL vs. TOR, Sept. 27); Saskatoon, Sask. (CAR vs. EDM, Sept. 27); State College, Pa., on the campus of Penn State University (BUF vs. PIT, Sept. 19); Tucson, Ariz. (ANA vs. ARI, Sept. 25) and Uniondale, N.Y. (NYI vs. PHI, Sept. 17).
