The crazy Jonathan Drouin situation is one of the most interesting trade topics since the Jarome Iginla going to Boston/ Pittsburgh incident. From the buzz that has been circulating it seems like the St. Louis Blues have been the most active although they have been rumored to have told the Lightning that they are not willing to move Robby Fabbri. However teams such as the Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings have been linked in some preliminary talks, though nothing too serious. I find it is really hard to gauge what the asking price is for such a player, but I imagine it could be a solid roster player and, a pick or, possibly a quality prospect. However, as stated before the whole debacle with him removing himself, from the line-up may raise some red flags. It is hard to believe that his actions have not lowered the asking price a team may be willing to give up. Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman holds the cards and I don’t look for him to play them unless they are in his favor.

NHL: Trade Talk – News and Notes

The San Jose Sharks have been engaging in a lot lately of trade talks lately. The question the Sharks are asking, “Is this the right time to move Patrick Marleau?”. The New York Rangers are one of the teams on his list that he’s willing to accept a trade to, and they have been reportedly scouting the Sharks recent games. Now I am not saying that they are scouting Marleau, but it may make sense because the Sharks do need help on the blueline and the Rangers have been said to be possibly shopping around Keith Yandle. However, at this point it is complete speculation.

Pending UFA Mikkel Boedker, has been put in a very difficult situation for both the team, and himself. The contract talks have not been progressing as well as they would have liked and that makes it a very dangerous situation for both sides. The Arizona Coyotes are in the heat of a playoff race for the first time in a while, and the fans love it. So if he is moved now, and they cannot receive a return that can help them out in the playoff race it will reflect poorly on the teams success. Although at the same time you can’t afford to lose him for nothing, and with under 20 days to go till the trade deadline a decision must be made.

The Calgary Flames are looking somewhere in the range of a second round pick for Jiri Hudler. Could be a good deal for a team making a run.

The Washington Capitals have been linked to Vancouver Canucks Dan Hamhuis with multiple sources suggesting this.

The Montreal Canadians could be a seller come the deadline if Carey Price does not get back soon. They have a lot of UFA rentals they could get a return for rather than losing them for nothing.

Carolina Hurricanes, Eric Staal is reportedly no closer to a deal, and it’s almost a guarantee that he will be moved before or on trade deadline day. He will be a great addition to any team making a Stanley Cup run. The Nashville Predators could be a very formidable team with the addition of Staal.
