The Los Angeles Kings opened game 4 with a blast. Goals by Jake Muzzin, Marian Gaborik, and Dustin Brown in the first period put the surging Kings in control of the game and the series.
The defending Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks were sent reeling tonight as the Kings took them by storm. The Kings added a fourth goal mid-way through the first period when defenseman Drew Doughty scored his third playoff goal. This put the Kings in a commanding position with a 4-0 lead. The Blackhawks Brandon Saad was able to score for the Blackhawks at the 14:03 mark of the second period.
The Blackhawks entered the third period down 4-1. At the 9:29 mark the Blackhawks first line was finally able to get the puck past Jonathan Quick. The goal was scored on a mad scramble in front of the net, where Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews had numerous chances to bank the puck home, but Kings defenseman Doughty managed to make a goal line safe, and swat the puck out of the crease. Chicago’s Bryan Bickel gained control and fired a backhand past the sprawling Quick. The Kings iced the game with a late empty-net goal by Tanner Pearson.

The Los Angeles Kings 5-2 victory puts them up 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals. The Blackhawks will get their chance to pull within one game of the Kings on Wednesday night, back home in Chicago.
